The Fall and Rise of the Internet

January 25th, 2012

On October 26th, 2011 a new law was introduced in the US House of Representatives which would transform the whole face of the Internet after its implementation.

This bill, known as the SOPA or Stop Online Piracy Act, had a far-fetched goal of removing online piracy and intellectual infringement completely. Though it was initiated for a noble cause, the internet community wasn’t entirely happy with it.

The proponents of this idea believed that it would protect the intellectual property of individuals as well as enforce proper copyright laws on the internet but the general public felt that this bill would give the control of the internet to the entertainment industry, search engine results would become filtered and eventually the internet’s promise of providing free and unbiased information would be lost.

Nearly 3 months later, on Jan 18th, 2012 the internet community came together to have a strike against the passing of this bill. Many big sites like Wikipedia, Wordpress and Craiglist were shut down for a day with other sites like Google censoring their logos. Also, many writers, bloggers and other influential people chipped in with their concern through posts, articles, reviews, pictures, etc

And finally 3 days later on the 21st of January the hard work put in by the internet community paid off. The issues that the people faced with this bill blended different races, communities, cultures and creed in to one for a unanimous cause of making the internet open and free just like the way it has been for the past 25 years.

Customer Speaks

Our Team Lead from Q3 was in Chicago with AMB this week. We have been involved in many demonstrations and meetings with customers and partners including Microsoft. We have been asking a lot of the Q3 AMB Team and they have surpassed my expectations on deliverables and efforts to deliver new features and functions, such as the new Address Correction, Cross Database, the e-commerce website, new data sources, testing - this product is near impossible to break, and more. These have been important for all of our prospects, customers and business partnerships.

I truly thank the team for their professionalism, efforts beyond most others and retaining a great and excited attitude and work ethic. Though I must say they have worked with these ethics and strength from their first days on this project.

For these reasons AMB has very long plans for utilizing Q3 and this team for years to come. Thank you, Q3 AMB Team !!
