Enterprise mobility is the concept which allows the workforce of an organization to remotely connect with the information base. It allows the use of various resources, required to flourish the organization by different teams involved in various processes of organization.

For better productivity, an organization always desires to keep in touch with its employees in working hours but, this connectivity could be achieved only inside a particular area controlled by the organization. This could not be achieved with the marketing team working on other location than inside organizations campus.

To remotely connect with the employee under such situations, concept of enterprise mobility was introduced, which was both, handy and cheap. It requires the use of a mobile device, which makes its owner carry it easily and allows the employee to remain connected with his company’s network all the time.

Enterprise mobility grants the ease of instant communication and access to crucial information, anytime, anywhere. It provides the following advantages to businesses or organizations:

Return on Investment: As workforce would be able to work qualitatively, with improved productivity. It eventually increases the income generated through business and covers up all the investment made initially to deploy organizational processes.

Positive Decisions: More beneficial decisions could be taken by experienced and skilled workforce, if provided the information access anytime. Experienced employee could make instant calculations using mobile access to information under critical situations.

Improved Communication: Better communication between different teams about same project could be made, even if two teams are distant and located at different places.

While organizations are more concerned in setting up a link between workforce and company’s resource, security measures should be ensured correctly. An emphasis on following issues should be given:

Data threat management: SSL based VPN’s should be introduced so as to provide secure access to data. There may be instances in the network when an un-trusted peer may try to connect with the corporate database with the intention of misusing the data against the organization. With applications like Blackberry enterprise applications, which use SSL based VPN, these risks are diminished to a considerable amount.

Device Compatibility: Mobile devices should be compatible with the applications used to connect with enterprise network. There would be no use of deploying such application, which do not support the device intended to communicate.

System Integration: Application compatibility is not enough for a business to make use of enterprise mobility. Mobile technologies deployed and applications used should integrate easily with the existing system of business so as to avail with the minimum installation cost.

Workforce Training: The mobile system used should be easy enough to educate the workforce with it’s working in minimum possible time. Moreover, user-friendliness should be high enough that users should get used to the system like a child with a toy.

The cost, security and critical nature of the enterprise system depend upon the sophistication of the system being deployed. More sophisticated systems require less IT labor to manage the system but the initial cost of installation increases with a bonus of security features enhancing. Likewise, less sophisticated systems are more prone to failures and would require more skilled engineers to maintain but would be less easy to deploy .The advantage of such system would be its initial cost. Cost of installation decreases but relatively cost of maintenance and other expenses increase.

Cloud Applications and Services are providing organizations with the best resource management solutions for optimum utilization of hardware and software platform. The cloud has also eased out handling complex network architecture of organizational resources.

Cloud is an easy solution to manage different resources of the company, but cloud in itself is a complex entity, dedicated to work round the clock to serve various purposes of organization, including machine to machine communication. Due to this reason, Cloud services need to be managed, as unmanaged clouds are more prone to crashes. Cloud management smoothes its functionality and optimizes its capacity to handle the amount of tasks it is associated with.

Managing the cloud services benefits the implementation of solutions and helps businesses with:

Improved protection level: Systems using cloud services to secure their data periodically need to optimize. Since the cloud usually works under extreme conditions which means high workload, stress and increased computational tasks, mistakes can sometimes arise. The use of cloud management tools improves its capacity and its elements, ultimately improving the performance of cloud to protect data.

Automatic recovery and load distribution: Where an unmanaged cloud crashes under load condition due to degraded computational capabilities, a managed cloud serves properly by taking full advantage of available infrastructure and automatically recovering the support of virtualization of hardware hosts.

Scalable infrastructure: When entire data centers are secured and managed properly, cloud services easily accommodate the upgradation of resources. This provides flexibility in the use of cloud services and a more scalable infrastructure, which resizes itself according to the requirement of the company.

Different Cloud management tools are available in the market having key features of their own. Few of them are listed below:

Scalr: It provides with high fault-tolerance and automatic recovery web-site. It monitors all the servers periodically and checks for the crash or error in any of the server. If found, it replaces it on its own. It ensures data security and regularly keeps backup and uses Amazon EBS database for data back-up purposes.

rPath: It is a system automation platform which automates the platform allocation, manages applications over different machines and delivers updates and patches.

CrowdDirector: It manages the availability of servers in critical situations and re-computes the cloud for maximum control over web services. CrowdDirector is equivalent to having high power load balancers to improve the availability of the web-site in high traffic conditions.

Kaavo: Offers to solve the challenges in deploying and managing distributed applications in cloud computing. It provides IT infrastructure management in public, private and hybrid cloud.

While organizations are evaluating their computing requirements in core IT services, they must analyze which cloud computing company could service them in order to maintain their business requirements for resources, platforms and infrastructure.

The industry of smart phones is dominated by three major brands, Windows, Apple and Google, which are creditworthy for making smart phones available with general user’s perspective. Initially smart phones were generally used by business people but later on; smart phones became a trend and a need for the general population because of the availability of more and more, user oriented applications which solve the purpose of the masses and their needs.

These brands came up with their own mobile platforms, mentioned as

Windows: Windows Phone 7

Apple: iOS

Google: Android

Though the key concern of enhancing user experience with their device is the same for each brand, the extra-services & approach for providing so are different on each platform. Each brand overcomes the other in many aspects. Some of them are listed below:

In earlier versions, among the three platforms, only Android was capable of providing over-the-air update for the phone, but new version of iOS is now capable of providing updates of firmware and even provides iTunes sync with desktop over Wi-Fi. Well, Windows is left behind in such race of technology service, as it provides only small bytes updates to users. There is a trade-off between the mobile platforms with the iOS being the most popular for now. This is the primary reason for iphone development being more sought after than android application development and windows mobile development.

Digital economy can be defined as the facilitation in traditional commerce of goods and services with the involvement of digital technology, internet and IT.

Digital economy covers all the major aspects of traditional economy and their components like Products, Consumers, Transactions, Value of products, Balance between demand and supply etc.

Digital economy provides a common virtual market place for the promotion, sale and purchase of products between businesses, consumers and consumer – consumer.

Some features of a Digital economy are:

Increased demand for skilled labor

Change in consumption pattern

More effective Supply chain

Faster responses to the requests of consumers

Electronic commerce between organizations

Improved efficiency of production

Balanced demand and supply patterns

Greater specialization

Integration technologies like web services along with traditional centers.

More granular business focuses i.e. more focus on the product of a business.

As the world is going on-line, digitization of economy plays a vital role in nurturing a new business in the marketplace with a minimum initial investment required and helps them develop new business relationships by understanding the presence of all the potential clients over the web.

Digital economy focuses and empowers the delivery of digital good, hence reducing the material transportation and other related cost of the product and hence, the over all cost of production. It also facilitates the traditional commercial activities and boosts up the pace of processing different activities. Digitization also supports the expansion of e-businesses, as product is digital and even if it isn’t, the mode of communication and marketing is digital which convincingly asks businesses to operate online.

Economy digitization is mainly for the digital product oriented companies like

Music

Movies

Digital Art

Software

e-Books

Files

With the digitization of the economy, online transactions will become more secure from what they are now. Payment mechanisms like merchant’s accounts, payment aggregators, micro payment mechanism etc. would mark their presence even in the smallest firm involved in digital economy.

Viral marketing is the technique to get to the mind and thoughts of the consumer in the minimum possible time with the highest amount of popularity gain, through a self-replicating process like of a viral disease. Marketing is the most crucial process of presenting a newly introduced product into the market for consumers, where people have a choice in the same class of products.

In current digital scenario, most of the software development companies are aiming at marketing their product or service through digital media like textual, audio, video formats or in general, any format that a viewer finds pleasing to the eye and interesting to interact with. Viral marketing focuses at using pre-existing social networks to allow the circulation of the information with the help of digital media like audio, video or any animation that emphasizes the user to view the content of the advertisement at least once. If the content of the message is carefully drafted than the user could find it interesting and fun to read, watch or listen, depending upon the medium. In this way, viral marketing is triggered and reaching the audience is done automatically through the multiplication effect of social sharing.

A brand uploads a video of it’s product on their page on various social media sites like Facebook or Google+. The users view the video and if they find it interesting they either like it or sometimes share it with their network of friends, family and co-workers. This creates a chain reaction that continues on its own. Just through a simple spark of uploading, the video is transmitted all over the networking site, giving popularity to the product which grows exponentially.

Viral marketing works well, when the correct information is provided or marketed to the correct person, in a correct environment through the correct messenger. If any of the parameter unbalances, the output of the strategy or plan fades out as there should be a correct balance of each weight to hold it into the space.

A number of techniques are there that helps turning a marketing campaign to a viral campaign:

Incentive to view: The users need some incentive to view your content. You can hold a competition, provide some early bird gifts, etc.

Social media involvement: The most crucial technique of promoting a product. Establishing a name for your brand in social media by using it as a marketing tool is the key.

Digital media: Nothing better than catching the eye of the user through an interesting video. Upload it and sit back. If it is be something the user wants to see, it will automatically be promoted.

Target audience involvement: If the audience can feel the subject or any activity, they will want others to keep up with them too. For example, polling.

The most famous example of viral marketing was the promotion of Microsoft’s free e-mail system Hotmail.com, which is a free e-mail storage and access provider. To advertise it’s presence over the web, Microsoft scripted a simple compact message at the end of the every free e-mail a user sends that says, “Get your private, free email at http://www.hotmail.com“. This message was sent by many users, many times to many people with every e-mail a user sends, providing correct and relevant information to the receiver, asking them to register, making Hotmail, today’s most popular and widely used free e-mail service over the globe.

Internet is flooded with such examples, where even software development have made use of viral marketing techniques to promote their product over the web in order to increase the traffic onto their website or to increase the popularity of their brand. But, every time a strategy succeeds, the main reason behind that promotion and branding success is the correct and compact information about the product which is provided to the correct user through an appropriate medium.

Since it’s only human to avoid reading long paragraphs describing the details of a product, no one would want to glue himself for a session to understand the granularities of a product.

The user either wants to be awestruck with some information or they want to see something cool and fun. Due to this reason, the main concern to turn any promotional activity into viral marketing is to make the message as interesting and short as possible, so as to attract as many viewers.

Out of the top 5 giants of the Silicon Valley, 2 were founded in the mid 80s, one in the mid 90s and one recently in the mid 2000s. The common thing about all these was that they were all early start-ups.
Microsoft and Apple were started off by college dropouts at a time when the software industry was being formed and there were only a few software development companies. Gates and Allen were passionate programmers who were eager to put their programming skills to some good use while Jobs, over at Apple computers, which he started with his friend Steve Wozniak, wanted to create a revolutionary computing device right in his garage. Both groups succeeded.

About a decade later, the world was overwhelmed with the coming of the Internet and all that it brought along with it. The plethora of information that the internet was going to store was enough of an indication that a tool to search the internet was a must. Two Stanford PhD. students at the time, made a project in which they had to download and search the whole web, during which they came across a search algorithm which was more effective than the one already in place. Google was born.

Less than a decade later, the whole world was using Google to find a variety of information online. Meeting new people and sharing information with them on a personal level had started. The world was getting social, but this time through the medium of internet. Soon after, a sophomore student from Harvard wrote Facemash, a program which later moved on to become the largest social media site of all time known as Facebook. It’s been 6 years since Facebook was introduced and the 27 year old CEO is now the 9th most powerful person in the world.

What we gather form all these stories is that every era has a trend which, to an extent, defines it. There are many people who identify the trend, some are a little too early and don’t have enough resources to realize their vision, and some are just too late. Finding out the trend and starting up a business as early as possible is the key to success.

To run any application, a computer platform is required which is known as an Operating System. One of the oldest OS is the Microsoft Windows and its mobile version is known as Windows Mobile OS.

This OS is a specific type of operating system, designed by Microsoft for smart-phones and pocket PCs. It is supplied with a basic suite of applications provided with the appearance that is somewhat similar to its desktop version but it is based on Windows CE, expanded as Windows Embedded Compact. WinCE is a distinct OS & kernel designed especially for embedded systems and should not be confused as a compact version of Microsoft’s desktop OS.

Windows mobile imposes no restriction on third-party application development and truly appreciates windows mobile development by free-lancers or third-party developers.

There are three main categories of windows mobile OS:

Windows Mobile Professional, which was used as the OS for the smart phones with touch screen feature.

Windows Mobile Standard, for the mobile phone without touch screen, &

Windows Mobile Classic, that runs on PDA’s & Pocket PC’s.

Originally designed for Pocket PC’s, Windows mobile OS soon provided an OS for smart phones and its debutant model was released with Pocket PC 2002. Till 2007, the market of Windows mobile phones was at its pinnacle. According to market studies, during the first quarter of 2004, Microsoft’s share in the worldwide sale of smart phone was 23% and was supposed to over take the market from Symbian by 2010, which was said to be a giant in the smart phones OS.

To promote the third party app development, Microsoft even released the Software Development Kit for Windows mobile in conjunction with the Visual Studio environment, which meant that developers didn’t have to purchase a separate environment for developing mobile application. Microsoft also included an Emulator in these SDKs to aid the development and debugging of the apps.

Different versions of Windows mobile are:

Pocket PC 2000, which was the first windows phone released in 2000.

Pocket PC 2002, released in 2001, was the first smart phone by Microsoft.

Windows mobile 2003 was released with Windows- like GUI, tools and helper apps, which also included the pocket version of word and excel in this series.

Windows mobile 5.0 introduced the push mail service to the phone users, which directs the mails via MS exchange.

Windows mobile 6.0 introduced a smart phone with a better resolution, higher security, smart filters and improved remote desktop access. Communication abilities like MS Bluetooth, VoIP etc were also included.

Recently launched Windows mobile 7 provides a rich gaming experience to the user with brighter display and multi-touch capability. The core programming language used is C#.net for mobile app development and silver light for coding the user interface. Another feature in the phone is that phone can be remotely switched from silent mode to normal mode, in case user forgets the location of the phone and tries to find it by ringing. Microsoft has come up with a rich functionality in the applications and provides a quality user interaction with the OS.

Computers are an essential component in the functioning of a 21st Century enterprise. For a software firm, these machines become mandatory as virtually all activities are performed through these devices. An organization’s technical infrastructure greatly determines its efficiency, output and work environment.

With time becoming the essence in today’s fast paced world, mobile computing opens up a new way of doing business. Writing emails, preparing presentations, researching and analyzing are a few of many business related tasks which are now performed on the go.

The rise of tablet computers in the past few years has not only increased mobility but the form factor and user interface of these devices are ideal for users who don’t want to work on a bulky laptop.

Apple’s iPad, the first commercial tablet which, since its introduction in April 2010, had sold over 55 Million units by the end on 2011, has strong functionality for the enterprise user through a variety of applications. Some of these enterprise applications where the iPad is used today are:

Project Management

Financial Monitoring

Company Information Tracking

Business Reporting

Video Conferencing / Meeting

Resource Management

A long list of iPad Apps is available in the App Store to cater to all of these business tasks. With the integration of these apps with cloud platforms, a task you perform on the way to your workplace is delivered to your workstation when you reach there.

Though the public was initially skeptical about the use of tablet PCs in an enterprise, these devices have proved to be a great advancement in how business operations are now performed.

In January 2007, Apple introduced it’s most revolutionary device, which would later become the best selling mobile phone ever, the iPhone. Apple presented the features like web browsing, messaging, touch interface, high resolution display, etc. in a whole new manner that gave it’s users a larger-than-life mobile experience. Ever since its launch, it has Apple has been releasing new and better versions of this device. Here is a look at the timeline of the iPhone:

iPhone, the very first version launched in January 2007.

iPhone 3G, which was introduced a year later, allowed 3G cellular network connectivity to the subscriber.

iPhone 3GS, a successor of iPhone 3G, released in June 2009, having faster data processing and computational capabilities which is why an “S” was suffixed in the name. Also, the camera resolution was upgraded from 2.0 mega pixels to 3.2 mega pixels.

iPhone 4, released a year after the release of iPhone 3GS, in June 2010, introduced the “retina-display” feature in its series. The display, manufactured under an exclusive contract with LG, had high pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi) and high resolution of 960 X 640 with the assertion that the same pixel density details could be perceived by a human retina.

iPhone 4S was launched in the second half of 2011 with an exclusive intelligent personal assistant application called Siri. It is a voice control feature, which interprets voice commands and gives visual and auditory feedback. This version also introduced iPhone with expanded memory of up to 64GB.

iPhone’s touch UI is different from other phones in terms of it’s multi-touch technology that allows it’s users to give the touch instructions at more than one point on the screen and iPhone processor efficiently processes those signals to output the result.

The most common zoom-in and zoom-out feature with a thumb and a finger of iPhone is the result of such efficient technology. Where other touch screens either fail to process the multiple touch or processes, Apple’s high end technology and smooth OS took the initiative of providing such a feature in its product and stood out from others. The touch sensitive, capacitate screen of iPhone only processes the touch instructions given with the finger tip, being conductive and not by some tool or stylus.

iPhone Operating System, better known as iOS, is derived from the Mac OS X which is a UNIX based operating system, providing iPhone with it’s features like:

High Security

Multi-tasking etc.

Apple encouraged iPhone application development from worldwide developers after the release of iPhone 4. Prior to this, there were no freelance ios applications in the market and to test their applications, they had to “jail break” their device, which cost them inhibited apple services and updates.

Since iPhone 4, the process of enhancing innovation was introduced through third-party developed applications. Apple introduces the applications developed by third-parties in official Apple store, after review by the experts.

Google Plus, Google’s relatively new social media platform has started the feature of creating pages for businesses. Around its launch in June last year, Google plus had the world skeptical about its success as no one knew how the internet community would react to the entrance of another social media site. In just a month of its launch, it reached an alarming 20 million users becoming the fastest growing social media site ever. The sudden popularity of G+ attracted many businesses to use it as an effective marketing platform.

To address this need, Google introduced Google+ pages in Nov 2011 which opened new avenue for businesses.

Since its no surprise that Google is the most popular search engine with over 90% of global searches performed on it, making a Google Plus page becomes very important for any business trying to gain online visibility. Here are a few reasons why you should make a Google+ page for your business today, if you haven’t already:

An SEO Benefit: Having an active G+ Business page will surely add to your online reputation when someone searches for your brand. Providing a detailed description with proper linking to your website can really be beneficial as G+ results are naturally ranked higher in Google SERPs.

Great Content Distribution: As the majority of the G+ population consists of engineers, developers, photographer, authors, etc. content sharing is the primary focus of most of the users. This is a great advantage for businesses to share and promote their content well. They can share articles, reports, case studies, white papers or any other content which the users might find interesting.

Target you Audience: With the fresh concept of circles you can distribute your followers / following into respective groups. This will help you share different type of content with the relevant audience.

Hangouts: This technique maybe new, but it could be an effective one. With Google + you can host hangouts and inform your audience about your business, your mission, your expertise and why the customer should pick you. Having a face-to-face interaction gives a sense of familiarity to the audience as their queries can be answered directly.

Other established social media sites like Facebook and Twitter may be more effective as marketing tools but the fact that Google + is still in its early stages makes it an ideal platform to establish a new brand. You may be a software development company or a florist, but If you can get the word going it won’t be long before your business has gained a positive reputation and is an established online brand.
