On October 26th, 2011 a new law was introduced in the US House of Representatives which would transform the whole face of the Internet after its implementation.

This bill, known as the SOPA or Stop Online Piracy Act, had a far-fetched goal of removing online piracy and intellectual infringement completely. Though it was initiated for a noble cause, the internet community wasn’t entirely happy with it.

The proponents of this idea believed that it would protect the intellectual property of individuals as well as enforce proper copyright laws on the internet but the general public felt that this bill would give the control of the internet to the entertainment industry, search engine results would become filtered and eventually the internet’s promise of providing free and unbiased information would be lost.

Nearly 3 months later, on Jan 18th, 2012 the internet community came together to have a strike against the passing of this bill. Many big sites like Wikipedia, Wordpress and Craiglist were shut down for a day with other sites like Google censoring their logos. Also, many writers, bloggers and other influential people chipped in with their concern through posts, articles, reviews, pictures, etc

And finally 3 days later on the 21st of January the hard work put in by the internet community paid off. The issues that the people faced with this bill blended different races, communities, cultures and creed in to one for a unanimous cause of making the internet open and free just like the way it has been for the past 25 years.

Cloud computing has immensely grown in the past few years. The high technology features offered by the cloud computing platforms has changed the way, the users used to operate their personal system. In traditional system, the user need to download the application from the internet or buy it from a vendor and then has to install it on his system.

The word “Cloud” comes to one’s mind when we need large storages for the data and immediate access to the application. Cloud Computing can be defined as a framework for providing easy to use network access to a pool of computing resources (e.g., servers, program applications, storage application and services).These services and applications can be easily released and managed by the service providers of the cloud services. This process saves a lot of time of the user which he wastes, while finding and downloading the desired software.

Cloud offers a great features and some of them to count are:

1.	Remote File Access: Cloud stores the files and applications in its large storage servers.Thus, a person can access the desired file and application even from remote areas.

2.	Access to documents simultaneously : users can view and edit a common document from any place!(All they need is – Internet)

3.	Faster control: The user can access and use applications with ease. They can save their work online and can access that anytime they want.

4.	Scalability: The scalability or usages of the applications can be moderated by the user as per the demand of the organization.

5.	Cheaper: The applications are stored remotely on the cloud, thus a user can access that directly through the web. There is no need to buy software. One, only need to subscribe for the application that he wants to use.

6.	Offers unlimited storage: Cloud offers unlimited storage space as compared to hard drives and other server’s limits.

7.	Maintenance: As all the software and applications are on virtual software so there is no need to worry about the software expiration or bug fix problems. The services providers take care of all the maintenance work required.<ins datetime="2011-08-03T12:54:38+00:00"></ins>

The cloud computing services can effectively reduce the economical cost which an organization put into the server and software handling. By this service, an organization just needs to pay for what it use/need online.

If you are working as a C# programmer, you must know, the differences and performance implications of these operators IS vs. AS. Some people who do not have enough information about this, it’ll be helpful for them.

There are two operators “IS” as “AS” in C# and mostly used for same purposes. In programming, we generally typecast the object into other type. There are various scenarios, if you are typecasting, you may
compile time error and other Run time error which obviously is not good for any application.

As we know that System.Object is mother of all classes in C#. It means, whether you derive your class from System.Object specifically or not, CLR does this for you. So, every object has always few basic methods which are inherited from System.Object. GetType also comes from System.Object. This always gives you the exact type of your object at run time. This method is non virtual so you are not allowed to override this.

Now let’s move to ‘IS’ operator. For the safety of the code, whenever you are going to cast an object to other, say Class Student.you will be writing the code like :

if( myobject is Student )
{ Student objStudent = (Student) myobject;
}

Obviously, this is good code, because before typecasting to Student type, it is actually checking whether this is of Student type or not. ‘IS’ Operator returns true if the object is of the same type else return false. But what happens, if we write the code simply

Student objStudent = (Student) myobject;

and where myobject is not of Student type, it’ll throw an exception. Actually at run time, CLR checks whether the object is of student type or not and it is not, so it throws an exception.

Now let’s move to ‘AS’ operator, this operator try to typecast the object to a given type and if the typecasting is successful then it returns it as of object of that class else returns null.

Now we can write the above code as following:

Student objStudent = myobject as Student;
if(objStudent !=null)
{
//use the object
}

Here as we see in the first line, CLR first checks whether the object is of Student type then return object of that type else null. Actually type checking is not a simple task for CLR, it goes through all the hierarchy, i e base type and checks whether the object is of the current type or any base type.

So in the second one, CLR is checking this once while earlier one it is doing two time, first with IS operator and later in typecasting, which is obviously a overhead.

Here, I also want to mention one thing, we should use ‘AS’ operator judiciously, because it will never throw an exception while typecasting, so one must have a check for null before using this else it’ll through an exception.

On the other hand, if you assign any value, say an input box or Label, you should use ‘AS’ operator. We can do this in two ways; let’s say we got one data row that came from database. Now, textbox1.Text = data row["columnName"] as String;

Because Text property can be assigned as any string or null, it will never barf. So this will work every time, but if you write

textbox1.Text = data row["columnName"].ToString();

It will be working fine till the value is not null else will through an exception because ToString() cannot be called
over null value.

Major categories of tags used by every company providing web solutions can be listed down as:

1. Headings      and paragraphs:

Headings are the vital part of any content displayed on the web page. These are
to
depending upon the importance. Heading
denotes the most important heading and
describes the least important.

and
tags are used to describe the start and end of a paragraph.

tag is also used as a heading tag for defining the title of the document.

2. Lists: These tags are used for displaying lists. Some of these are:

<Dir> – directory list,

– ordered list,

– unordered list,

– definition term,

– data definition.

3. Text attributes: These tags are used for formatting of the text used in the web page. Some of the key tags are:-

– for making the text bold,

– for the making the text italics,

<blink> – text blinks enclosed in this tag,

<strike> – the text appears to be stroked,

– this is used to display the text in different sizes and styles.

4. Anchors and links: These tags are used to hyperlink the text enclosed in the tag.

Example of anchor tag : <a href=”your url”>link.Here ‘link’ is clickable text which directs you to the desired URL.

5. Images and Tables: We can insert image and table our web page. To insert image we need to use following tag as:

, we can also provide different parameters such as height, width, alternate, mapping etc along with this tag.

To insert a table we use,

. To add rows we use
tag and to add column we use
.

6. Form and Frames:
tag is used to create a form in which we can include different tags such as radio button, check box, text box, label etc tags.

<Frame> tag is used to divide the screen into parts/sections, so as to show different portions of the web page on a single screen. Different tags used for frame are <frameset cols=”” rows=””> to divide the screen as per the value provided in rows and columns.

Note: - Most of the tags in HTML needs to be closed by placing a “/” sign inside the tags (e.g.
) in order for them to work properly.

HTML, which stands for Hyper-Text Markup Language, is a scripting language used for designing web pages. Its first version known as HTML Tags was made public in 1991.

The basic structure of HTML consists of elements known as tags. These tags are enclosed in angle brackets (e.g.
) which form the code of the web page.

When the whole code is ready for execution, it is opened with a suitable browser which interprets the HTML code and performs the functions associated with the respective tags.

Many outsourcing software development service providing companies makes use of HTML for designing static web pages. HTML acts as building blocks for web pages. Objects, images, forms and other applications can be embedded in web pages using HTML.Tags are basically of two types, namely Single tags and paired tags. Each tag has opening and closing like
is known as opening tag and
is known as closing tag.

Single tags do not require closing tags.

Paired tags have a proper opening and closing.

There are different types of HTML tags. These tags are divided into categories on the basis of their usage for creating the web page (static).To start with; let’s use a small snippet to describe how to go about it.

For example:

my page

What is html?

Here, the content between
and
describes the web page. The title of the web page is described by enclosing title in the
and
tag.
tag defines the document’s body. Most of the tags are used inside
tag only.

To be continued..

These nodes can be of different types as per the user’s need. Some predefined content/node types are “story” type and “page” type. So, in a whole, Drupal is made of lots of nodes.

The standard release of Drupal is known as Drupal Core. It has some basic features as managing registrations; RSS feeds management and general customizations. Drupal acts as a complex programming interface for developers but no language skills are required for basic site installation and administration.

With Drupal you can build (For example):

Simple static website

Simple personal homepage

Company/commercial website

Weblogs/blogs

Reasons as why to use Drupal:

Easy to use (no language skill required).

Lot of modules to work upon.

Lot of themes to use in order to make your site attractive.

Great established user community to get your query answered.

Drupal is very useful tool for a web designer with little or no knowledge of programming language. It helps in creating a web site in no time. It is also known for its dynamic nature as websites designed on Drupal can be modified easily and frequently by modifying the modules.

As per Wikipedia, “Drupal is a free and open source content management system (CMS) and Content Management framework (CMF) written in PHP and distributed under the GNU (General Public License). Drupal is created and maintained by a community of thousands of developers and users. This community is headed by Mr.Dries Buytaert, who has originally written Drupal.”

Drupal is free and it’s ready to use as soon as it is downloaded. It comes with large number of add-ons which are helpful in content management, blogs, managing picture gallery and even tagging pictures.

It is written in PHP; a language known for its flexibility in building dynamic web sites. It requires database such as MySQL etc. to store the content and settings. Drupal make use of certain modules which enables the site admin to organize, customize, display content of his website and manage the routine tasks such as users registrations etc.

JAVA has emerged as one of the best programming languages. Earlier languages like C/C++ were the key players but with the introduction of Java, a new definition of Object Oriented Programming has come into picture.

Java is a high level programming language .It is an up gradation of C/C++ programming language along with its own unique features which makes it more popular and stronger than any other language. Various features and extensions that are being used in JAVA have changed the entire look of the development environment.

JAVA source code (with file extension .java) is compiled with a help of java compiler (Javac) and a class file is formed after compilation, known as Byte Code. This Byte Code can be transferred to any platform (OS) and can be executed on any JVM (Java Virtual Machine).This unique feature makes Java applications to be platform independent.

Some of the Basic features of Java Software Development that makes it a powerful development platform are:-

1. Object Oriented language

JAVA is an Object-Oriented Language. A Java application follows Object oriented approach throughout the coding phase within the class definition only.

Treat everything as real world entity (object)
Extensive library within package.

2. Robustness

JAVA language is robust. It provides features to avoid errors during execution of the code like: Exception handling & Type checking

Garbage collection and array/string bound checking

3. Platform Independence

It follows “Write-Once-Run-Anywhere” ideals (required for tuning with various platforms)

4. Security

JAVA doesn’t allow writing incorrect/bad code that can corrupt your hard drives or can steal your data. To make an application secure, it has the following features:

5.  No illegal data conversions

Code Errors reduced by:

byte code verifier – verify classes after loading
Class loader – bind objects to unique namespaces.
Security manager – determines what all resources a class can access such as reading and writing to the local disk.

6. Threading

Lightweight processes, called threads, can be used easily to perform multiprocessing.
Makes the execution faster

7. Internet-working Built Up

JAVA has many classes by which a developer can easily develop various sophisticated internet applications and communications.

JAVA can be used to develop stand alone applications as well as for web application development. It has a built in API (Application programming Interface) which enables it to handle graphics and user interfaces. As it has rich set of APIs, like windows, it can also be thought of as a platform in itself.

MSWord provides the functionality of adding text quickly for testing purpose. This allows automatically adding several sentences and paragraphs that repeat the words, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” These words are often used for testing because, together, they contain all the letters in the English alphabet in one concise and coherent sentence. Such a sentence is known as a pangram. This function is very useful for Testing team by several ways.

How to insert sample text into a document in Word, there are several ways as mentioned below
1. Type =rand() and press Enter key
2. Type =lorem() and press Enter key
3. Type =rand.old() and press Enter key

You can control how many paragraphs and lines appear by adding numbers inside the parentheses of the rand() function. The =rand() function has the “ =rand(p,l) ” syntax. where p is the number of paragraphs, and l is the number of lines that you want to appear in each paragraph.

The following are some examples that show how the parameters work:
=rand(1) inserts one paragraph with three lines of text in the paragraph.
=rand(10,10) inserts 10 paragraphs with 10 lines of text in each paragraph.
